Genevieve Costume in Splendour (NIDA 2023)

This silk dress and woolen cape was for Genevieve, the dictator's wife's friend in NIDA's 2023 production of Splendour by Abi Morgan and directed by Nat Randall and Anna Breckon. 

The silk dress was a culmination of the skills I have learnt in making fine women’s wear. 

As the character gets sprayed down with water throughout the show, the woollen cape needed to be lined with waterproof fabric to help protect the silk dress from water stains. The wool also needed to be cut and boiled before construction to allow it to handle being wet down.
